GSPO 2014 Donor Campaign
Nearly Doubles Original Goal
The GSPO would like to thank everyone who donated to our Donor Campaign. This year's match was to be the largest effort by the twelve year organization, with a goal of $15,000. Long time GSPO supporter, Steve Shultz of Shultz Steel, made an offer that is a first for GSPO. If the organization could raise the full $15,000 Mr. Shultz would double the match. Thanks to everyone who donated GSPO is proud to announce that not only did they reach the goal but exceeded it by over $10,000. A total of $25,430 was raised, bringing the grand total for the campaign to $55,430, almost double the original goal. Maestro Fox had this to say: "we are overwhelmed with the support people have shown to GSPO over the past month. It is a reminder of how far music reaches into people's lives and brings them together."
Sweeney Todd in Concert
Broadway veteran, Norman Large, and YouTube sensation, Sarah Horn, will join GSPO on May 10, 2014 for Sweeney Todd in Concert. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 1979 musical thriller with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and libretto by Hugh Wheeler. Sweeney Todd opened on Broadway in 1979 and in the West End in 1980. In addition to several revivals the musical has been presented by opera companies and has been a major motion picture starring Johnny Depp. It won the Tony Award for Best Musical and Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Tribute a Huge Success
Maestro Steven Allen Fox had this to say after GSPO's "Great Composer Tribute: Elmer Bernstein" on February 15, 2014. "This concert was one of the most artistic performances by the GSPO musicians in our twelve years of existence. These incredible artists have lifted our organization to new heights. In addition to their mastery I would also like to say thank you to our special guests who helped in making the concert a special evening of music, stories and laughs."
